NOTE: This story may contain spoilers. You've been warned!

You spent the morning with Law.

Despite his serious and arrogant look, he turned out to be quite a nice guy, at least when he wasn't trying to tease you. You soon learned to take his teasing with humor, though, and started answering with jokes and laughs, playing along with him, your playful answers pulling more than one amused smirk or chuckle on his behalf.

All in all, you ended up getting along incredibly well.

He had new questions about your world and they grew as he knew more things about it, so you patiently answered him the best you could.

Before you knew it, it was almost lunch time and you had to leave.

"Well, it's time I go home." You said, standing to take your bag. "Maybe Esther will come to visit later when she gets out of work."

"What does she work at?" Law questioned in curiosity.

"She's a school teacher." You replied.

Law stared at you with a glint of incredulity sparkling in his now gold-looking eyes. "That woman educates children?"

"Yes. She can give class to kids up to twelve." You smiled, chuckling at the look Law was sending to you. "I know she acted quite crazy yesterday, and I'm not going to say it was only because of you; she's pretty crazy on a regular basis. But she knows when she needs to get serious, and she's a very bright and affectionate girl. I can't think of anyone better to educate children. I'm sure she will help raise amazing people."

"She kind of reminds me of Strawhat-ya." Law murmured.

"Luffy?" You chuckled. "Maybe. They're both very energetic. Well, see you tomorrow, I guess."

"Actually, I was hoping for you to come back later... maybe one extra hour this evening?" He hesitantly asked. He didn't want you to go, as you somehow made him feel at ease. He wanted you to stay the whole day with him, but of course he wasn't going to ask for that much.

You paused, blinking surprised that he wanted you to stay, images of him begging you not to leave him back at the road coming to your mind. "Of course." You gladly accepted. You didn't feel like spending the rest of the day alone at your home, anyways. The last day had been terribly long. The only reason that kept you from returning to the hospital was that you didn't want to bother him. "How about I come back after lunch and stay until dinner? I can bring my laptop with me and work here, and while I'm at it I can teach you how to use it. If you're going to live here, you definitely need to know how to use a computer." You suggested.

An involuntary spark of eagerness lit his eyes for a second before he could conceal the emotion. "I like the plan." He smirked. "See you later, then?"

"Yes." You smiled. "See you later."

In less than three hours, you were back. You didn't noticed but, if you had payed close attention, you would've seen Law's eyes litting up at your return.

"Hey!" You happily greeted, entering with your bag and a laptop case with your laptop inside.

"Hey." He repeated, chuckling at your cheerful entrance.

"How are you?" You questioned as you walked to the chair next to his bed.

He smiled internally. You always asked him how he felt when you visited. "Just fine. A bit tired of being tired, though."

"You almost died. Take it easy." You distractedly murmured as you took out your laptop and turned it on. "Do you have energy to learn some computing basics?" You added, turning to him with a smile.

"Yes, sounds interesting." He replied, eyeing your laptop with curiosity.

You placed your laptop on his lap and leaned close to him to show him how to use the device and explain how it worked and what he could do. You taught him to use the keyboard and touchpad, since you hadn't brought a mouse with you.

You had quite an entertaining time. It was fun to see how his intuition worked regarding informatics. He usually managed to figure out pretty correctly what he had to do, but sometimes he tried doing some things that amused you, since they reminded you to your grandma and how she assumed computers where magical.

For example, the first time you told him to close the window, his eyes automatically darted to the room's window, and you couldn't help but laugh at his instinctive reaction before explaining him what kind of window you were referring to. Or when you told him you had another computer at home and he assumed that if he placed something on the desktop, it would magically be on any computer's desktop as well, not understanding properly how computers work.

He was smart, though, and he caught up pretty quickly with your directions, having just some minor trouble. You noticed he was inquisitive as well, as he constantly questioned everything that came to his mind if he couldn't try it himself.

You somehow ended up drawing silly things with Paint, laughing at each other's drawings since it was pretty difficult to control the touchpad to draw and everything you did was amorphous or misshapen. Especially his drawings, as he had to use his left hand because his right arm had the IV and it hurt him to move it.

"What the heck!?" He exclaimed in frustration when he tried using the bucket tool to paint a section with a red color, turning out in painting the whole drawing in red.

You laughed gleefully, enjoying his naive mistakes and cute frustration as you remembered how you did similar mistakes when you started using a computer when you were a child. "That's because you haven't closed properly some line." You zoomed de image and moved around the section he was trying to paint. "See? There's a small gap in there."

He frowned at the screen. "What a shitty program." He grunted.

You laughed again. "Hey! You're starting to talk like a true computer user. Congratulations!"

He offered a lopsided smirk. "Is everything in computing this... fastidious?"

"Yes." You rapidly replied. "I can tell. I'm a programmer, so I know better than anybody how picky these things can be. Sometimes crazy nonsense happens without any reason at all, and then, you accidentally do something that apparently has nothing to do with it, and it magically gets fixed. Stuff like that happens all the time."

"Programmer? Is that your work?" He asked curiously.

"Yes. To put it simple... I make, adapt and fix programs. I'll explain you better how it works when you're a bit more into this world, if you want me to." You offered.

"Extra knowledge is always welcomed." He approved.

He rubbed his eyes with a hand in tiredness.

"Are you okay?" You asked in concern.

"Yes. It's just that I'm getting a headache. I probably shouldn't force myself on concentrating too much. I feel constantly tired and really weak." He explained, his fingers pressing his temples.

"Why don't you rest, then?" You suggested, taking the laptop from his lap. "Lay down and close your eyes. I'll do some work meanwhile. That was the plan after all."

"No, it's okay. I don't think I would be able of sleeping, anyways." He declined.

"For a doctor, you don't take proper care of yourself." You gently reprimanded him. "Come on, lay down. You don't need to sleep, just close your eyes and relax. You'll feel much better, you'll see." You insisted, using the bed's remote to lower the head part. He was starting to feel pretty sick, so he didn't complain and let you do it. "Do you mind if I turn on the TV? I'll mute it so you can rest."

"I don't mind." He replied, closing his eyes.

"Are you comfy?" You asked once the TV was on.

A soft smirk grazed his lips, his eyes remaining closed. "Yes."

"Okay. If you need something, I'm right here." You informed, the smirk on his lips widening.

It felt nice to have someone to take care of him for once. He had forgotten how heartwarming it was, to have someone to worry and care about you. Plus, it was the first time in his life he had no worries at all. He had no marines, no pirates, nothing to worry about. He had planned to possibly die after his battle against Doflamingo, so he had made sure his crew was prepared for that and he knew they would be okay. He had the chance to start from scratch, and he had someone to support and help him until he was ready to take responsibility again.

Despite feeling so exhausted and frail at the moment, his mind and soul felt extremely light. He could definitely get used to living in this world. It was strange, because he didn't really know you and he didn't like to rely on anybody that wasn't himself. But you transmitted him some type of calming energy that made him trust you and feel very comfortable and tranquil.

He concentrated on the sound of your fingers frenetically typing on the keyboard, slowly drowning into a drowsy state.

He sighed, feeling more relaxed and content than he had felt in ages.
