(Y/N) = your name
(F/D) = favourite drink
(F/C) = favourite colour

"Pink or red?" You asked Law. You had an exam that afternoon and you were in your bathroom with your best friend, getting ready before heading out to college. But you couldn't decide which lip-gloss you wanted to use, so you were asking his opinion. Not that you expected a proper answer from him.

"Who cares? Choose any so we can leave already." Law answered grumpily. It was getting late and that exam was important. Plus he didn't know why you had to put any makeup on. In his opinion, your face was the most beautiful thing in the world, just as it was. He preferred to keep this opinion to himself, though.

"Aw, don't be like that. I need to choose wisely so it gives me luck at the exam."  You pouted slightly.

"There won't be enough luck in the world if we don't actually arrive in time." He retorted, almost rolling his eyes at your antiques.

"We still have plenty of time, don't worry." You contradicted him with a wave of your hand while putting on your lip-gloss, causing an exasperated sigh on your friend. When you were satisfied with your look, you headed to your room to take your bag, followed by Law.

"(Y/N)-ya, what has happened to your bed?" Law asked when you were about to go out your room, with a slight tone of curiosity in his voice.

"Huh?" You turned your head to look at your bed. What the hell? It was just the mattress base, without any sheet, blanket or pillow. Not even your mattress. "That dwarf..." You grunted.

"Dwarf?" Law asked raising a brow.

"The magic dwarf who lives inside my wardrobe" You answered skeptically "Who do you think? Luffy! LUFFY!!!!!" You ended the sentence calling your roommate and running to the living room, where you knew you were going to find him. Recently, he had taken the marvelous habit of looting the beds to build forts in the living room. God knows where those ideas came from. And there he was, right in the set up process.

"Luffy! My bed better be back to normal and perfectly made when I return this evening or I'll make sure you have no meat to eat in a month." He started complaining and making excuses but you were a bit late already and Law was going to cut you into pieces if you kept wasting time. So you just ignored his babbles and finally left with Law.

Since it was pretty late, you had to run to catch the train. You lived quite far from college, if you loosed this train you wouldn't make it on time. Fortunately, you caught it just in time. You both sat together in a free seat. Once the train left the station, you realized you two were alone in the train car. "It must be very late" You thought a bit worried looking at Law from the corner of your eyes, fearing he would scold you for taking so much time back at home. But no, he seemed calm. He was just checking his notes.

"You should be studying too." He murmured when he felt your gaze, his eyes fixed on his notes. His words took you out from your thoughts and you immediately opened your bag to take out your own notes and got closer to him so you could study together, without noticing the momentary and light uneasiness this move caused to your best friend.

Truth be told, Law had always liked you. You knew each other since always. You didn't even remember how you met. And after so many time shared together, he couldn't help but fall in love with you. But you never showed any interest in other boys. You always said that having a boyfriend was just an unnecessary headache. And Law treasured your company and friendship too much to risk losing it, specially knowing your opinion about relationships. He had decided long ago that it was enough for him to be with you as best friends.

What he didn't know, is that you liked him too, although you had started feeling this way just a couple years ago. Your problem was that you didn't listen to yourself. You were so convinced of your own words that you never second-guessed your feelings. You never paid attention to them. You knew Law was handsome, you knew you loved his personality and you knew how happy you were with him and how much you missed his company when he wasn't with you. But all that was just because he was your best friend and you knew him for a very long time. It couldn't be anything else, right? It was obvious.

After several minutes of study, you started getting tired. You had been studying this what felt like ages, you were sick of trying to study concepts that you almost knew by heart. You decided to put away your notes and look through the windows. That's when you realized you had no idea where you were. The scenery you saw was completely foreign to you. You started getting nervous, your heart beating faster each second you stared outside without recognizing the place. The train arrived to the next station and you read the sign with the station's name. You didn't know it either.
Law sensed the change in the atmosphere and looked at you with a worried frown.

"L-Law... Where are we?" You whispered looking at him with fear in your eyes.
Law's expression turned into a confused one. You gestured towards the sign when the train closed its doors and started moving again. You could see Law's eyes scanning the sign and widening in disbelief. He rapidly stood up to check the stations in the train map.

"Fuck." You heard him curse. "We took the wrong train." He continued, gritting his teeth.

"What?" You stuttered getting more anxious by the moment.

"I said we. Took. The wrong. Train" He repeated slowly, approaching you with an angry glare. "’We still have plenty of time’ you said?" He continued angrily. He was about to start scolding you, but he saw your frightened eyes and trembling hands, and his anger vanished. You were really nervous. You were even scared. You were always like this, worrying too much about everything. It was clear you felt awful, tears coming to your eyes despite your efforts to hold them back.
Law sighed deeply and sat next to you, taking your frozen hands between his own and rubbing them with his thumbs in a comforting manner.

"Relax, it's OK. We'll get off at the next station and we'll see how we can go back home, OK?" He suggested softly. You lightly nodded, not wanting to look at him at the moment. This was your fault. He was going to fail that exam because of you. Plus, you didn't want him to see that you were about to cry. He knew you too well to not notice this, but you still wanted to hide it. And looking at him would only make harder for you to hold the tears. Why did you have to be so melodramatic?
But Law understood. You were very sensitive; you felt everything with more intensity than the rest of the people. He didn't think that was something bad. In fact, it was one of the things he loved about you. It was what allowed you to understand him better than anyone. Something he was really grateful for.
He simply stayed next to you, holding your hands and trying to talk about some random theme to distract your thoughts. This way he managed to eventually calm you down.

"I'm so sorry, Law." You whispered when you finally calmed completely.

"It's fine. I didn't realize either. It's my mistake too. We both messed up." He said with a half-smile, which you weakly returned.

When the train finally got to the next destiny, you stared through the windows with wide eyes.

"Law, look! It's a town!" You exclaimed enthusiastically with a big smile on your lips.
The train had stopped at the square of a fairytale looking town. It was large and round, the ground was made of orange-colored stones. In the middle was a little and cute fountain made with the same kind of stones. It was almost as if the fountain sprouted from the ground.
You couldn't restrain yourself, and as soon as the train opened the doors you run excitedly out of it. Law calmly followed you, taking his time.

You stopped in front of the fountain and turned to Law with a smile, while the train closed its doors again and left the town. And then it hit you.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh! My bag! I forgot my bag!" You shouted running to the train. Law grabbed your arm before you made it too far.

"Stop yelling, I have it." He informed you raising his free hand to show you your bag.

"Oh... well, thank you." You thank him shyly with a timid smile, moving your hand to grab the bag. But Law moved it away from you.

"I'll carry it. You'll just lose it somewhere." You gave him an annoyed look, but didn't argue his words. "What would you do without me, hm?" He teased you. But your attention had already found another target. You were thirsty, and you just found a coffee shop. One more time, you left Law and run to the coffee shop.

"(Y/N)-ya! Wait!" Law called you. But you didn't hear him. He let out an aggravated breath and followed you, one more time. He wanted to get mad at you for having the nerve of ignoring him despite the situation you were in, but he loved the way your eyes lit up when you were excited about the simple things in life, so he decided to go along with you a little time. The exam was a lost cause anyways.

The coffee shop turned out to be pretty peculiar. It was very spacious, with many crystal tables distributed among the place. Each table had a compartment below, full with crystal bottles, and surrounded by four white bar stools. Truth be told, it was a pretty place, you couldn't understand why it was so empty. Maybe the time again?

"Hi, welcome to my coffee shop. What would you like to drink?" Asked you the only waitress, approaching you.

"May I have a (F/D), please?" You answered immediately.

"Of course." She accepted. She pulled out a bottle from below the nearest table and a (F/C) glass, and poured the contents of the bottle into the glass. You sat to drink more comfortably. It tasted delicious! In that moment, Law entered the establishment with a sullen face. He looked at you with a reproving gaze and sat next to you without a word, resting his elbow on the table and propping his head with his hand.

"This is delicious. Don't you want anything to drink?" You asked ignoring his grumpy attitude. A soft grunt was the only answer you got, so you finished your drink and called the waitress to ask for the bill. Law gave you your bag so you could get your purse, but after some minutes looking for it, you remembered you had forgotten it at home. Weren't you lucky? Damn hurry.

"Uh... Law? You won't believe me." You started with a nervous laugh, looking at Law with puppy eyes.

"I'll pay" Law cut you off with a weary tone, pulling out his own wallet.

"Thanks" You breathed timidly.

Once it was payed, you left the coffee shop and headed to the train station. This time you stayed obediently with Law. You had already caused him enough trouble; you didn't want to upset him further. He was always too patient with you. You weren't always so disastrous, though.

When you finally asked at the ticket window, they told you the train was out of order. In other words, you couldn't get back home until half past eight; the hour they said it would be functional again. You were stuck at the town until then. Tough luck.

You managed to convince Law to take a walk around the town. It was a cute town and you wanted to see more of it. So there you were, wandering through the streets, poor Law carrying your bag and his own. From time to time you pointed enthusiastically at some detail you liked, slowly changing Law's mood into a better one thanks to your contagious excitement. He loved seeing you so happy.

You stopped in front of a house that caught your attention. It was built in gray stone and it looked very old. You could see a little tower standing above the rest of the little houses in the town.

"Would you like to see the inside?" Asked an elderly man seated in a folding chair next to the house's door, who had noticed your interest. He explained that it was the first house built in the town, and the few tourists the town had used to visit that house. In exchange, they paid him a little money, but he offered to let you see the house for free. You turned your face to Law with a questioning look, making it clear that you would love to accept the man's offer but it was okay with you doing what he preferred. Law simply smiled to you and took your hand to go inside the house, thanking the man in the process.

The inside was very ample. At the back you could see a sofa and a fireplace, and the floor made of stone was tremendously worn down. Right to your left were the stairs, really old and so narrow that you could almost just put one foot before another. What a suicide of stairs. The elderly man observed your curiosity and explained that the man who built the house loved the sky and the stars. That's why he built the tower. But he also thought that not everybody should be allowed to be delighted by the beauty of the sky, so he built the stairs in a way that made it difficult to climb them.

"What a stupid idea" You thought. But you wanted to know if you were able to climb those stairs. You didn't think it twice, and started to slowly climb the stairs. When Law saw your intentions, he ordered you to come back down. Of course, you ignored him. At least, until you slipped and almost fell. Luckily for you, Law was near and caught you before you loosed your balance. Just one problem. He didn't have the time to grab you properly and you accidentally kissed him, right in the lips. You stayed like this a few seconds until you heard the old man laughing heartedly at the scene. You both separated and Law helped you to straighten and go down the stairs while you muttered a quiet 'thanks'. Your face was as red as a tomato and you could feel your rapid heartbeat in your chest. If you would have turned your eyes to Law, you would have seen he was slightly flustered too, but you felt too embarrassed and were too occupied trying to focus on the stairs to think about anything else.

The elder didn't make any comment about what just happened and kept showing you the rest of the house. A little kitchen, a narrow bedroom and a tiny bathroom was all the house had to offer. Honestly, excluding the living room, the house made you feel claustrophobic.

"I wish we could have gone to the tower to see the stars." You told to anyone in particular.

"We can come back another day and try." Law suggested, smiling softly. Your eyes immediately lit up.

"Really?" You asked with hope in your voice.

"Of course." He answered with a chuckle.

You two said goodbye to the old man, thanked him again and left. The arrive of the train was still more than half an hour away, but you didn't have anything else you could do, so you were already sitting in a bench in front of the train tracks.

"Sorry about the exam." You apologized one more time. "But I had a lot of fun." You added with a smile. Law nodded.

"Yes, I have to admit I had fun too. I would have preferred if it wouldn't have been at expense of my grades, though." He said with a hint of humor.

"I'm sorry." You repeated nervously. "My favorite part is the visit to the house. What's yours?" Law took a few seconds before answering your question.

"When you almost fell." He finally said smiling mischievously at you. Your heart stopped for a moment.

"T-The fall?" You stuttered. "Hah, it was pretty embarrassing, right? I'm so clumsy" You joked fidgeting nervously.

"No, not the fall" He continued with a witty smile, moving his face closer to yours. You swallowed, looking into his eyes. You knew what he meant and you realized you agreed with him for some reason. You couldn't take your eyes away from him. What was happening to you? You didn't have the time to think of an answer. Law leaned towards you, closing the gap between your lips. Your mind went blank. You closed your eyes and put your arms around his neck holding him closer to you, without thinking about what you were doing. You felt Law smiling into the kiss and you couldn't help smiling too.
When you finally parted, you looked into each other's eyes.

"(Y/N)... Would you be my girlfriend?" Law whispered. When you accidentally kissed him, back in that old house and he saw your cute and flustered reaction, he found himself unable to keep acting as he had been doing all this years, and he decided he had to try. You were dying to say yes, so that's what you did. Your answer brought a huge smile on Law's face. It was the most sincere and bright smile you had seen on him. It reached his eyes. And then, you realized how handsome he was, you realized how much you loved his very nature and you realized how happy he made you and how much you needed him by your side. You felt how much you actually loved him. He was your best friend, yes, but he was so much more to you. And you were so lucky he felt the same. Your lips curved in a huge smile copying Law's. You couldn't take your eyes off him, as if it was the first time you saw him.

"I never thought I would be so glad for failing an exam." He said putting his arm around your shoulders and holding you close. You rested you head on his shoulder giggling. And you stayed like this until the train arrived to the station to bring you back home.

EPILOGUE

When you arrived to your home, you still had that big smile plastered on your face. You just couldn't stop smiling. You knew the next day your mouth was going to hurt, but you didn't care.
You entered the living room and found it completely messy. Luffy, who was playing with Chopper and Usopp, had openly ignored your threat. When he saw you were back, he stopped in his tracks and stared at you in fear, waiting your rage to erupt.

"Hey guys, having fun? Luffy, don't forget to return my bed when you're done, ok?" You said sweetly before going to your room. The three friends in the room were left with a shocked expression in their faces. Luffy blinked a few times and tilted his head in confusion.

"Do you think she got hit on the head? Maybe the exam melted her brain..."

Cough

Well... here is my first fanfiction. I never though I would write one, I'm quite surprised with myself xD.
This fic is inspired in a dream I had. Sorry for any typos or other mistakes I might have made Nagisa Bowing Icon  It's been 10 years since I wrote a story, and it's my first time writing in English Llama Emoji-10 (Shy) [V1] . If you have any advise or correction, I'll be happy to know them  Asuna (Smile 1) [V1] .

Anyways I hope you like it and enjoy it as much as I did writing (and dreaming xD).

I dedicate :iconpiratehero3:  this fic, since she encouraged me to write this story Racing Girl Emoji (Lovely Wink) [V3]
